About this course

‘Success in Year 6 Maths’ supports Year 6 practitioners to enable pupils to reach the expected standard in maths by the end of Key Stage 2. Teachers will attend a 3‑hour face‑to‑face morning session followed by two 1.5‑hour webinars. Across the three sessions, participants will explore strategies, resources and teaching approaches that address common barriers to learning and strengthen pupils’ fluency, reasoning and problem‑solving. Teachers will examine key mathematical concepts that pupils often find challenging, identify high‑value learning and consider effective ways to adapt teaching to accelerate progress. Time will also be dedicated to reviewing practice SATs questions, unpicking class data and planning next steps.

  • identify high‑value learning to support pupils towards expected standards

  • explore strategies to strengthen fluency, reasoning and problem solving

  • recognise barriers that prevent pupils achieving national expectations

  • use class data and SATs analysis to inform planning and next step

  • apply effective teaching adaptations to accelerate pupil progress
