About this course

As we near the end of the academic year, these in-person moderation clusters will provide Year 6 teachers with the opportunity to talk through their evidence of children’s writing and their assessments of standards with colleagues from other schools. We recommend that teachers bring evidence of writing for at least 3 children from their class. We would suggest choosing 2 children who are working around the cusp of WTS/EXS (perhaps one who is close to achieving EXS but not quite there, and one who it is felt has secured the standard). We would also suggest choosing one child who is either a very strong EXS or working at Greater Depth. Further information will be sent to delegates in advance of the session.

  • increased confidence in understanding standards and expectations at the end of KS2

  • opportunities to articulate their thinking about how they have assessed children’s standards

  • clear understanding of any gaps in their writing evidence and areas to focus on before the end of the year
