This innovative and sharply focused programme is designed to support children in Years 4 and 5 to meet, and exceed, age‑related expectations in writing. The project develops teacher subject knowledge to explicitly teach writing, sharing evidence‑based pedagogical approaches for precise and effective composition. Teachers will learn how to teach each stage of the writing process with clear strategies, while maintaining a strong focus on writing for authentic purpose and audience. They will also gain confidence in using model texts to explore word choice, sentence structure and overall composition. Drawing on our successful reading fluency project, the approaches aim to develop writing fluidity, stamina and confidence. Teachers receive three sequences of more than twenty lessons, supported by a range of resources and innovative strategies to help focus children build the skills needed for high‑quality writing. Lessons can be delivered as whole‑class teaching or targeted support.
