About this course

Join us in-person as a teaching team, for this shared INSET day exploring foundational learning.

Allow us to support your staff development; creating a shared understand of what foundational knowledge is, where to find it and how to secure it.

Timed to fit in with schools' January INSET day, and designed to tackle an area of focus both from Ofsted and the Curriculum and Assessment Review, participants will gain a deeper understanding of this area and the implications for our teaching and pedagogy.

Over the course of the day, keynotes and workshops will focus on a range of subject areas, including the core subjects (English, maths and science) plus a range of foundation subjects. We will also consider the vital role of in-the-moment assessment and the pedagogy needed to really secure the foundational knowledge that future learning is built upon.

  • explore what foundational learning is and why it is important

  • consider where to find the foundational learning within our curriculum and subjects

  • explore the pedagogy required to enable pupils to learn, secure, recall and apply learning

  • take part in CPD as a staff team on a common focus, to develop a shared understanding
