This training supports KS1 teachers to secure pupils’ understanding of sentences and demarcation. It explores why many pupils enter and leave Year 1 without a secure concept of a sentence and why this gap often persists into Year 2. The programme reflects the 2025 Writing Framework, which emphasises teaching well formed sentences step by step, beginning with secure single clause sentences using a clear subject and verb. The training includes video examples of effective practice and planning based on a quality text with these approaches embedded throughout. The three part CPD consists of an interactive eLearning module, a live webinar exploring common barriers and effective techniques, and a follow up twilight session focused on supporting vulnerable learners.
