About this course

Inclusive Leadership: Getting the Best Out of Everyone is the driving theme of the Primary and Nursery School Headteachers’ Conference 2026 - a celebration of leadership that places people, purpose and possibility at its heart.

In every primary and maintained nursery school, leadership shapes lives. The way schools are led influences not only outcomes, but experience - how children feel about learning, how staff feel about their work, and how communities feel about their schools.

At a time of increasing complexity and pressure, inclusive leadership offers a powerful and hopeful response: leadership that listens, values difference and unlocks the potential in everyone.

This conference invites headteachers to explore what it truly means to lead with inclusion and intention. Through inspiring keynote speakers, real‑world leadership stories and thought‑provoking sessions, delegates will reflect on how inclusive leadership strengthens school cultures, nurtures wellbeing, and creates environments where children and adults can flourish together.

For primary and nursery leaders, inclusive leadership begins early. The beliefs, behaviours and relationships shaped in these formative years can transform children’s confidence, belonging and aspirations, while also building resilient, motivated teams who feel trusted, supported and empowered. Inclusive leadership is not about lowering expectations - it is about raising them for everyone, by recognising strengths, removing barriers and leading with clarity and compassion.

This conference provides time and space for headteachers to step away from the demands of the everyday and reconnect with the ‘why’ of their leadership. It offers inspiration, practical insight and renewed energy, alongside the invaluable opportunity to learn with and from peers across the sector. Inclusive leadership is how schools thrive - when everyone is seen, supported and challenged to be their best. This conference is an opportunity to reflect, re‑energise and lead forward with confidence, conviction and care.

  • take time away from the operational demands of school life to reconnect with the moral purpose of headship, reflecting on values‑driven, inclusive leadership and the difference it makes to pupils, staff and communities

  • explore how inclusive leadership supports staff wellbeing, motivation, retention and professional growth, and learn how to create environments where diverse teams feel trusted, valued and empowered

  • engage in meaningful dialogue with fellow headteachers, sharing challenges, insights and best practice, and building professional connections that sustain and inspire leadership beyond the conference

  • depart with renewed clarity, confidence and inspiration—equipped to lead with compassion, ambition and inclusivity in the face of ongoing change and challenge
