About this course

This workshop provides delegates from maintained nursery schools and schools with nursery classes with clear guidance on planning their indicative Early Years funding for 2027/2028. The session will explain each step involved in using pupil information to shape initial funding plans and will give delegates the opportunity to understand how the indicative allocation is formed. It will also outline the process for calculating funding adjustments linked to changes in nursery pupil numbers, helping delegates apply the correct method confidently and accurately. Throughout the workshop, the focus will remain on supporting participants to interpret their figures, respond effectively to variations, and ensure their Early Years funding plans are prepared in a consistent and informed way.

  • understand the core principles that underpin Early Years funding allocations

  • use the nursery calculator accurately to support Early Years budget planning

  • sense check Early Years budgets and funding adjustments for their school or setting
