For individuals booking a single personal space on this course
Foundations for Phonics takes practitioners on a journey into the earliest stages of phonics, focusing on what children need before letter recognition, blending and segmenting begin. This course explores what early phonics looks like in the EYFS and why strong phonemic awareness is essential for future reading success. Delegates will develop a clear understanding of key pre‑phonics skills and have the opportunity to explore hands‑on, practical activities that can be easily implemented in daily practice. Time is given to reflect on current provision and consider how early phonics can be woven meaningfully into routines, interactions and the wider curriculum. By the end of the course, practitioners will feel confident in recognising, supporting and planning for the foundations children need to thrive when they move on to more formal phonics in Reception.
