About this course

This two-session course supports practitioners in Reception and Year 1 to design and implement a strong transition programme by embedding EYFS pedagogical approaches throughout the summer and autumn terms. Participants will have dedicated time to evaluate their existing provision and will gain a range of practical, immediately usable strategies to enhance their transitional practice.

  • understand key aspects of early years pedagogy during the transition process to Key Stage 1

  • reflect on the effectiveness of handover, taking into consideration the learning environment, daily routine and role of the adult

  • explore ways in which early years principles can be adapted and developed to each unique context
