About this course

This course supports practitioners to develop effective, assessment practice in line with the EYFS. It explores the purpose of formative assessment to inform teaching and learning, alongside summative assessment used to make accurate end of phase judgements. Participants will deepen their understanding of best fit assessment, focusing on how to build a holistic view of children’s learning over time. The course will share practical strategies around how to gather insights into learning through everyday practice, ensuring assessment is manageable. A key focus is the role of observation, interaction and professional judgement, highlighting how practitioners’ knowledge of children and the EYFS underpins confident, accurate assessment decisions.
