This training for designated safeguarding leads provides detailed guidance on Hertfordshire child protection procedures. It covers managing the referral process for child protection concerns, using the Hertfordshire Continuum of Need document, working with other professionals and contributing to child protection plans.
The course is suitable for practitioners working in Early Years settings, including childminders with assistants. Participants must have attended a basic child protection and safeguarding course within the past two years and hold the role of designated safeguarding lead within their setting.
The course is appropriate for both new and experienced designated safeguarding leads. Those who have previously attended this training may prefer to access the designated safeguarding lead refresher course to meet renewal requirements.
This course is Part 1 of a two part Early Years designated safeguarding lead programme. Part 2, focusing on safe staffing and developing a positive safeguarding culture, should also be attended to meet EYFS requirements.
