About this course

This course provides an overview of the key risks and controls for COSHH and Legionella in schools. It provides practical guidance on completing COSHH inventories, carrying out risk assessments, and implementing effective operational controls. The Legionella content details what Legionella is, why it is harmful, where it originates, conditions that allow growth in water systems, methods of control, record keeping, and relevant legal requirements and guidance. Please bring a copy of your legionella risk assessment to the training. Having this available will support effective risk management within your school.

  • understand Legionella origins, hazards, and growth risks in schools

  • carry out Legionella control regimes and maintain required records

  • find and use substance safety information effectively

  • identify which substances require a COSHH assessment

  • use supporting documents to manage COSHH and legionella risks
