About this course

The session begins with an overview of key considerations when setting this year’s budget 2027/2028 and the forecast for 2028/2029 and 2029/2030 for Special Schools and Education Support Centres, including the latest updates from HCC. Delegates will receive guidance on the essential areas that affect planning and budget development for the year ahead. The session will also provide an update on any changes to the Access Budgeting software to ensure users are aware of new features or requirements. Financial Services staff will be available digitally throughout the morning to support with queries and offer advice on entering budget plans into the Access Budgeting software.

  • begin setting the draft budget with guidance and support throughout the workshop

  • understand section 251 funding and apply it accurately in Access Budgeting software

  • produce a full and comprehensive set of budget reports for effective financial planning

  • explore a range of ‘What if’ scenarios to support informed budget planning decisions
