About this course

Helping young children fall in love with writing can feel a bit like magic and this webinar is here to reveal the tricks behind the spell. This playful, practical webinar explores how practitioners from Nursery to Reception can spark a genuine love of writing while guiding children confidently towards the ELG for Writing. Practitioners will explore what early writing really looks like across the EYFS, recognising the vital role of oracy, imagination, self regulation, and executive function in helping children plan, focus, organise ideas, and persevere. The session highlights how gross and fine motor development, high quality interactions, and a rich, well designed environment can inspire children to write with curiosity and confidence. Through practical examples and quirky provocations, delegates will discover how writing can be woven naturally into continuous provision indoors and outdoors, giving children authentic, irresistible reasons to write throughout their day.

  • develop clarity around the key skills young children need to become independent writers

  • explore practical, ideas that inspire writing across all areas of continuous provision

  • strengthen ability to moderate children’s writing effectively within the EYFS

  • deepen understanding of quality first teaching that build resilient young writers

  • gain understanding of the ELG expectations for writing and how to meet them meaningfully
