About this course

This course provides essential knowledge for the effective management of asbestos in school settings. It offers practical guidance on safely managing asbestos that remains within buildings, together with a clear understanding of required documentation and compliance expectations.

Participants will gain insight into the locations and types of asbestos containing materials commonly found in schools, alongside HSE and DfE expectations and Hertfordshire County Council policy and guidance.

The course also supports understanding of asbestos management surveys, including how to interpret survey data, and highlights the role and importance of asbestos management plans. Key operational processes are covered, including permission to work procedures, conducting visual inspections, and responding to incidents.

On completion, attendees will be equipped to undertake the responsibilities of an asbestos authorising officer.

  • interpret asbestos survey data and management plans effectively

  • apply permission to work and visual inspection procedures correctly
