Assessing learning in Year 1

About this course:

This full-day training will explore purposes and methods of assessment and how they can be integrated into teaching and learning. The course will support and develop understanding of assessing learning against curriculum expectations in reading, writing and maths. 

There will be opportunities for delegates to explore examples of pupils’ work and discuss the ways in which these may demonstrate learning and the areas where the pupil would need to focus for improvement.  

There will be opportunities for discussion, sharing of practice and networking. 

The course is aimed at those who are early in their career or those who have moved into Year 1 from a different phase.

Learning outcomes:

• Develop understanding and thinking around different types of assessment and how/when they can be used to have an impact on pupils’ learning;
• Confidence in assessing reading, writing and maths against curriculum standards.
