About this course

This session should be led by a race equity adviser and a behaviour adviser who are experienced in addressing prejudice-related incidents. Delegates will be given the opportunity to speak openly about racist incidents, attitudes and behaviours they have witnessed in their settings/schools and will be shown how to address these. Delegates will also increase their awareness and knowledge about how prejudice and racist behaviours are developed and how schools can respond. Delegates will feel empowered and confident about addressing unacceptable attitudes, language and behaviour. The training will provide delegates with steps and strategies to approach and reduce prejudice related incidents, whilst also addressing the significant impact that these behaviours can have on all involved. This training is suitable for existing and new senior leaders.

Training objectives

A face-to-face training session that will support staff to feel confident in identifying and recognising racist incidents in school settings. Staff will be provided with strategies to respond to racist incidents more effectively and will receive guidance about post-incident support for targets, perpetrators and witnesses, staff and a families.
