SIMS for new users – eLearning

About this course

This course content, set over two separate videos, is designed to enable SIMS users to maintain and utilise data within the database to aid effectiveness and efficiency.

This training course has been produced in two sections, for ease of reference:

  1. What is SIMS? – navigating around the software
  2. Adding Student/Pupil details and Student/Pupil contacts

These two recordings aim to provide information on SIMS for users who are new to the SIMS software.  The first recording will demonstrate how to navigate around the SIMS database and provide the user with knowledge on how to use the software in an efficient and accurate manner.  The second recording will cover how to add pupil and contact details including importing and exporting a common transfer files (CTF) from within the SIMS software.  

Learning Objectives 

  • add, edit, pupil, contact details including how to ensure siblings are connected to a pupil’s record
  • understand CTFs
  • learn how to access the school diary, understand the pastoral structure of the school and view school information
  • understand how to edit lookup tables
  • learn how to run a basic report
  • become aware of help and information available to support the usage of SIMS
