Planning from and embedding the Herts Agreed Syllabus for RE

About this course:

Schools will be aware of the locally agreed syllabus for RE, which came into effect in September 2023 and the initial launch training that was provided and funded by SACRE in early summer term 2023. This academic year (2023/24) is for schools to plan and embed their school RE curriculum using the agreed syllabus. To support this implementation process we are offering this half-day face-to-face opportunity for RE subject leaders to develop their understanding of the requirements and work collaboratively with colleagues.

In this session we will be:

  • using the recently released additional support materials
  • applying them to your planning of the school RE curriculum
  • collaborating and sharing effective practice with each other

We ask delegates to bring their current curriculum mapping and an example of their planning for a unit of RE. Both the mapping and unit of planning will be used during the morning as part of discussions and activities.

Learning outcomes:

RE leaders will:

  • understand the requirements of the Hertfordshire SACRE Agreed Syllabus for RE
  • explore the support materials and how to use these to support and develop their own curriculum planning
  • be able to adapt their school curriculum to include a religion and worldviews approach to learning
  • RE leaders will be able to plan an RE curriculum that meet the needs of their school setting and local community

Additional information:

We ask delegates to bring their current curriculum mapping and an example of their planning for a unit of RE. Both the mapping and unit of planning will be used during the morning as part of discussions and activities.
