Effective transition into Year 1

About this course

The course will guide practitioners in how to plan the delivery of an effective transitional programme by applying the principles of EYFS pedagogy.

Delegates will have the opportunity to explore how to continue to implement this way of working and to consider how it can evolve through the year to sit alongside and complement more traditional approaches to Key Stage 1 pedagogy.

Learning outcomes

• to understand key aspects of early years pedagogy, including how to develop an enabling environment, the daily routine, establishing the balance between adult-led and child-initiated learning and the role of the adult in moving children’s learning on
• to understand ways in which formative assessment supports the learning and development of young children
• to explore ways in which early years principles can be adapted and developed to each unique context
