About this course
This training is designed to help Year 2 teachers to support children to achieve enjoyment and success in writing. Join us to explore how the current research about effective writing teaching can inform high quality, inclusive classroom practice.
During the session, we will consider how to meet the demands of the Year 2 National Curriculum whilst also fostering enjoyment in writing. We will explore teaching approaches to help children to develop accuracy and confidence in their use of punctuation and grammar. We will explore the craft of writing to support children in developing confidence in their composition skills. We will share practical tips to support children’s progress.
All strategies and activities have been designed to enhance your pupils’ composition and transcriptional skills, to help them to become confident and enthusiastic writers. You will leave with an understanding of strategies for effective teaching of writing at Year 2. Your school will benefit from well-informed practice which will help to build upon children’s early foundations in writing to secure skills and build mastery, while fostering enthusiasm for the subject.
This training is perfect for ECTs, teachers new to Year 2, or anyone looking for a refresh using new and exciting children’s literature.
