About this course:
This series of three half-day, face to face workshops has been designed specifically for single and mixed age class teachers from Year 1 to Year 6 to be able to make the most effective use of the ESSENTIALmaths planning resources.
By attending these sessions, you will further develop your practice in:
• planning small step progression through learning;• CPA - teacher modelling and pupil exploration;
• developing pupil talk and recording;
• purposeful questioning to check and deepen understanding;
• developing fluency in number facts and mathematical reasoning;
• designing rehearsal and practice;
• flexible guided teaching informed by AfL;
• opportunities for deeper thinking for all pupils;
• purposeful gaming;
• use of a working wall.
Learning outcomes:
You will be able to identify how to:
• be adaptable to meet the needs of your class;
• enhance subject knowledge;
• unpick and illustrate the concepts that need to be understood.
During each workshop, you will have unpicked and personalised an ESSENTIALmaths learning sequence and created a plan ready to use in your classroom.
