The Big Staff Meeting Series - Science – Awe, wonder and progression in science – living things

About this course

Developing staff subject knowledge and understanding of progression (from EYFS to Y6) in a specific subject area, through regular ‘staff meeting’ length interactive, online sessions. Ideal for school staff to watch together, joining in with activities and discussions.

Sessions are live 3:45 – 5:00pm on the given date, with recordings made available afterwards. Watch live on the day as a staff, or save the recording for a more convenient time (alternative day of the week or as an INSET session).

The 6 sessions are £125 each (per school), or all 6 can be purchased for £600 (per school). If buying all 6, then select the bundle/package option rather than individual sessions.

Science: Exploring the progression in learning about ‘living things’, whilst also capturing the awe and wonder moments science provides. Plants, animals and humans, living things and their habitats all have specific learning within the National Curriculum. This learning should build cumulatively to give pupils a deep understanding of living things.

Learning outcomes

Within each of our Big Staff Meetings staff will:

  • engage with key subject knowledge and consider the progression in learning across the primary age range
  • consider how and where the identified knowledge and skills sit within their school’s curriculum map
  • take part in activities and discussions with colleagues in their own school, to explore and deepen understanding
  • develop greater confidence with and understanding of key vocabulary and concepts that sit within each focus subject

Additional information

School staff are encouraged to sit together to engage with sessions. Although sessions are online, staff will be given opportunities to talk to colleagues and take part in activities. Any materials required will be emailed in advance.
