About this course:
This series of three half-day, face to face workshops has been designed specifically for Reception class teachers to be able to make the most effective use of the Reception ESSENTIALmaths planning resources.
By attending these sessions, you will further develop your practice in:
- planning small step progression through learning;
- teacher modelling and pupil exploration;
- developing talk - modelling vocabulary and pupil talk:
- ways to encourage mathematical mark making;
- purposeful interactions to assess learning and ensure accurate next steps;
- varied pedagogical approaches;
- opportunities for deepening and broadening learning for all pupils
- developing mathematical opportunities across provision including purposeful gaming.
Learning outcomes:
You will be able to identify how to:
• be adaptable to meet the needs of your class;
• enhance subject knowledge across your team;
• unpick and know how to deepen and broaden the key concepts that need to be understood across provision.
During each workshop, you will have unpicked and personalised a Reception ESSENTIALmaths learning sequence and created a plan ready to use in your classroom.
