Leading primary mathematics in current times: being strategic and moving forwards

Join us for this series of six webinars. Book your place now for access to the first two sessions and all resources and then join us for the remaining four.

The next live session will take place on the 30th of January 2024.

About this course:

This webinar series enables maths subject leaders to focus on their maths leadership role over six one-hour half-termly online sessions. We will share essential latest guidance, giving relevant updates and ensure you have all the up-to-date information leaders need. The series also acts as a professional learning opportunity for maths subject leaders, allowing time and space for conversations about what might have the most impact in school, how to support colleagues and how to lead effectively.

As the new academic year starts, schools are busy, and time is precious. We will help maths subject leaders to have the time to consider the following:

·       what needs to happen (and when) this academic year;

·       how is best to lead colleagues supportively;

·       the right approach to develop a whole school culture towards maths;

·       how to ensure that provision maximises learning;

·       the whole school picture by hearing from guest speakers with relevant specialisms, for example, assessment, SEND, EYFS etc.

Learning outcomes:

This series of six webinars, with additional resources across the academic year 2023-2024, is aimed at helping maths subject leaders to prioritise critical actions, support colleagues and confidently lead their subjects. The webinars are continually reviewed and adjusted to account for local and national contexts.

Subject leaders may well be joining us for a second or third academic year in a row on our ‘Leading Primary Maths’ webinar series, as the content constantly evolves to give the most current picture of the primary maths landscape and support leaders.

• support the ongoing professional learning of mathematics subject leaders;

• share information and updates e.g. from the DfE, and take account of the local and national context;

• support leaders in their role, prioritising key actions, making strategic decisions and following the flow of the academic year;

• share ideas and strategies to enhance classroom provision and maximise pupil outcomes;

• discuss how to manage supporting colleagues, monitoring and giving feedback;

• be a forum for discussion with other mathematics subject leaders and Herts for Learning primary maths advisers.

Ideally delegates will attend all six sessions, but each webinar will be recorded to support leaders who are not able to make the live event.

This course is also relevant to delegates who have attended this course in previous years, due to the updated material included to reflect current priorities.
