About this course

This course provides practitioners with an introduction to the basics of child protection, their responsibility to keep children safe and to share concerns. This is suitable for practitioners new to safeguarding in early years and for experienced practitioners who wish to update their knowledge.
This course is suitable for practitioners working in all early years settings, including childminders.

Learning outcomes

The aims of this course are to:

  • understand concepts of safeguarding and child protection and how they relate to your job
  • recognise the indicators of abuse and understand the process for reporting suspected abuse
  • understand the process for reporting allegations made against staff
  • develop knowledge of safe working practice including online safety
  • develop knowledge of Herts Safeguarding Children Partnership (HSCP) procedures and website support
