HFL ESSENTIALwriting is built on the foundations of high-quality children's literature and clear models for writing, enabling children to focus on the language choices that will underpin their ability to write effectively. Sequences study the craft of composition, and writing outcomes are driven by a clear sense of purpose, audience and pupil agency.
Each writing unit is expertly pitched to secure foundational skills, whilst expecting high outcomes from all pupils. Each lesson builds on the last and each unit fits into a sequential overview that gradually introduces grammar, spelling and composition skills. The units are also carefully designed to build children’s vocabulary and oracy through oral rehearsal and spoken language opportunities. The clear models, resources and suggestions for stretch and scaffold will ensure all children are supported to engage and succeed.
This short webinar will provide an overview of year 2 planning to best enable effective and swift implementation of HFL ESSENTIALwriting. You will be guided through the yearly overviews, planning structure and core year group texts.
