6 – 8 TAs: £150
9 or more: £180

Are you looking for a cost-effective way to provide training for your Teaching Assistants?
Six one-hour, monthly online sessions to develop TAs’ subject knowledge and confidence to effectively support the delivery of the whole school maths curriculum.
All sessions will be recorded and available to view at a time that works for you.
Each session will have a subject knowledge focus:
Wednesday 18th September 2024:
Developing number sense:
- What type of maths learner are you?
- Subitising
- Counting
- Magnitude
- Place value
Wednesday 23rd October 2024:
Addition and subtraction
- Mental calculation strategies within 20
- Building base facts
- Teaching formal written methods using CPA
Wednesday 20th November 2024:
Multiplication and division
- Learning times tables
- Steps to understanding written multiplication
- Understanding grouping and sharing for division
Wednesday 22nd January 2025:
Fractions, decimals, percentages
- Fractions as part of a whole, a number and as a divisor
- The place value of decimals
- Percentages as parts of 100
Wednesday 26th February 2025:
Geometry
- Shapes – properties and classification
- Spatial reasoning
- Angles as a measure of turn
Wednesday 26th March 2025:
Reasoning and problem solving
- Understanding the elements of reasoning
- How to break down problems to aid success
- Problem solving strategies
Learning Outcomes:
Teaching assistants will have increased confidence in:
- Subject knowledge
- How to use concrete equipment
- Using accurate mathematical language
- Scaffolding
- The importance of varied practice.
