Mental Maths Fluency Intervention

About this Course:

This course is a set price for 2 places. Please, therefore, add 2 tickets to your basket before proceeding to checkout.

This programme is a 1:1 or small group intervention for pupils struggling with foundational adding and subtracting up to 10 +10 skills.

The course, for two members of staff, will provide all the tools and resources to enable you to run a short, focused and bespoke intervention, the Mental Maths Fluency Intervention.

This intervention builds foundational learning in number and additive fact recall. It focuses on supporting the development of deep understanding of numbers within 10 and enabling pupils to develop strategies to understand how additive facts up to 10 + 10 can be derived and are related. The aim is to precisely build learning, explicitly drawing out relationships and considering strategies for calculation within 20 so that pupils secure greater recall of key additive facts and can apply this learning to later calculations.

The Ofsted report, July 2023, highlights the importance of pupils knowing facts, but it also says that efficient methods and strategies need to be taught alongside facts. Too many pupils are getting by, as illustrated above, using inefficient counting strategies, eventually getting the correct answer but losing track or becoming overwhelmed when questions become more complex.

The training is priced at £300 + VAT for two members of staff. Please book both members of staff via the HFL Hub and the cost will be adjusted before payment is taken.
