Developing metacognition in everyday learning - Autumn 2024

About this Course:

Evidence suggests that metacognition and the development of self-regulation, and crucially, self-efficacy, can have a huge impact on all learners, but especially those who experience disadvantage or have SEND.

Over recent years, we’ve seen the importance of learners having the skills to think about and monitor their own learning and to self-motivate, and how this contributes to building agency and independence.

This webinar will explore key ideas about metacognition as well as providing practical ideas for integrating this into the classroom. The content would be relevant for those leading on teaching and learning as well as classroom teachers.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Clear understanding of the key principles of metacognition and how it relates to learning;
  • Practical ideas for how to further develop metacognitive practice in lessons.
