Effective assessment and data analysis for subject leaders (English and mathematics) and middle leaders in primary schools

About this course:

This course is aimed at colleagues who are new to a subject leadership or middle leadership role in primary school and who need an overview of the key assessment processes and data analysis tools to support monitoring and improvement. The course will explore the use of key data tools including the Hertfordshire assessment profile, Analyse School Performance (ASP) and the Inspection Data Summary Report (IDSR). Good practice in assessment processes to support pupil progress will also be discussed, as will the tracking of pupil progress, particularly the use of the HfL ‘Easy Tracking’ system.

Delegates will be able to spend time analysing their own school data, with the support of the lead assessment adviser, and identify key issues for school improvement in their subject. It is essential that participants have a working username and password for accessing ASP and the IDSR.

Learning outcomes:

  • to understand the meaning of the data across a range of tools;
  • to understand how to use the data tools to analyse performance in their subject and to inform school improvement strategies;
  • to understand the range of assessment processes involved in monitoring and improving practice in the school.
