ECTs in KS2 – Assessing Learning: Principles & Techniques - Spring 2025

About this course:

This half-day training will explore purposes and methods of assessment and how they can be integrated into teaching and learning. The course will support and develop understanding of assessing learning effectively against curriculum expectations. 

As the training will be in-person, there will be opportunities for discussion, sharing of practice and networking. 

The course is aimed at early career teachers or those who have moved into KS2 from different phases. 

This training would be complemented by our ‘Responsive Teaching: effective questioning and retrieval’ session available as a live webinar on 24^th October or as an on-demand recording afterwards.

Learning outcomes:

• Development in understanding and thinking around different types of assessment and how/when they can be used to have an impact on pupils’ learning;
• Confidence in choosing different assessment techniques to inform practice.
