About this course
This e-learning course, split into two parts, is aimed at supporting you in analysing your Year 1 Phonics Screening Check (PSC) data. It will help you evaluate and review the quality of phonics provision in Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1, informing next steps for this and future cohorts. You will have opportunities to look at and consider matching needs to provision, key classroom and catch-up methods and how to build related strategic actions into systematic practices. We will explore how to target the needs of the lowest 30% of readers, moving from initially passing the PSC towards reading with fluency, stamina and comprehension. We will also consider how the development of phonic knowledge can support children to encode, as well as decode.
Following participation on this course, schools will be sent a FREE suite of Excel analysis tools for all past PSC papers.
