Year 2 writing moderation cluster: Hemel Hempstead (Spring 2025)

About this course:

This in-person cluster will provide Year 2 teachers with the opportunity to hear key messages surrounding
assessment, to explore standards and expectations in writing, and to work together with colleagues, analysing where their pupils are currently attaining and identifying gaps and next steps.

We recommend that teachers bring evidence of writing for 2 pupils from their class – typically, one who is targeted to achieve the Expected Standard at the end of KS1, and one who is targeted to be Working at Greater Depth.

Learning outcomes:

• Increased confidence in understanding standards and expectations at end of Key Stage 1
• Clear understanding of their own pupils’ current attainment and areas to focus on in teaching
