About this course
The Big Staff Meeting: cost effective whole-staff CPD.
Developing staff subject knowledge and understanding of progression (from EYFS to Y6) in a range of subject areas as well as in assessment and SEND, through regular ‘staff meeting’ length interactive, online sessions. Ideal for school staff to watch together, joining in with activities and discussions.
Sessions are live 3:45 – 5:00pm on the given date, with recordings made available afterwards. Watch live on the day as a staff, or save the recording for a more convenient time (alternative day of the week or as an INSET session).
The offer has been expanded for the academic year 2024/25 to include 12 online staff meeting, with sessions cover a wide range of topics.
There are 3 purchasing options:
• The sessions are £129 each (per school),
• A bundle of 6 (foundation subjects and science) can be purchased for £541.80 (per school),
• All 12 sessions can be purchased for £1083.60.
If buying the bundle of 6 or 12 option, then select the appropriate bundle option rather than individual sessions, when purchasing.
Our subject specific ones focus on developing staff subject knowledge and understanding of progression (from EYFS to Y6). We also have sessions focused on meeting the needs of pupils with SEND, and effective assessment strategies.
Art and design: Developing the language of art throughout the primary school
As part of their learning in art and design, pupils should develop vocabulary which allows them to explore and express their own artwork and discuss the work of others. How can we ensure that we develop the language of art throughout the primary school, and what vocabulary might we focus on?
This might include the vocabulary to talk about the elements of art (such as colour, line and space), or the tools and techniques we use and combine to create our artwork. Focusing on how vocabulary develops is one way to explore how our curriculum enables progress.
Learning outcomes
Within each of our Big Staff Meetings staff will:
- Engage with key subject knowledge and consider the progression in learning across the primary age range
- Consider how and where the identified knowledge and skills sit within their school’s curriculum map
- Take part in activities and discussions with colleagues in their own school, to explore and deepen understanding
- Develop greater confidence with and understanding of key vocabulary and concepts that sit within each focus subject
Additional information
School staff should sit together to engage with sessions. Although sessions are online, staff will be given opportunities to talk to colleagues and take part in activities. And materials required will be emailed in advance.
