About this course
As subject leaders, how do we know that our subject curriculum is being implemented and having the impact we hoped? How do we know that children are making good progress in their learning? This course will focus on how we might assess learning in foundation subjects, and how we might monitor the impact of our curriculum. Both of these are underpinned by strong curriculum mapping that identifies the most important learning. Subject leaders often carry out monitoring activities (such as learning walks, pupil voice, work scrutiny). We will explore how and when these might be carried out so that they gain good quality information and impact positively on the quality of teaching and learning across the school. This webinar is part of our range of CPD for subject leaders and senior leaders, focusing on the curriculum in your school. The latest Ofsted information will be explored as part of this series, to support leaders in their thinking. Thinking about your foundation subject(s), we will explore:
- How might we assess learning?
- What are some of the tools we might use to assess foundation subjects?
- What should we be monitoring and evaluating?
- What are the range of tools we might use to do this?
- Importantly, what might we do with what we find out?
We will start from our curriculum mapping and progression documents, as these guide us in the content of the learning including the knowledge and skills we are looking to see pupils develop and articulate. Whether you are a subject leader, overall curriculum leader or senior leader, this session will support you to consider the best ways to assess, monitor and evaluate the learning in non-core subjects in your school.
