This three-session training resource and accompanying materials explores how inclusive teaching strategies enable all learners including those with SEND to access phonics teaching.
Designed for use by individual staff members or for subject leaders and SENCOs to use as whole school CPD, the sessions explore how:
- assessment can help to precisely identify gaps and barriers in phonics acquisition
- evidenced-based strategies can be woven into everyday learning opportunities enabling pupils to develop the foundations for reading
- accelerated progress in phonics can be achieved through spelling and writing
The resource has been collaboratively developed by HFL Education’s English and SEND advisers and Amwell View School.
