This digital learning self-paced course will explore inclusive teaching strategies to enable all learners - especially those with SEND - to thrive and flourish within the maths mainstream classroom. It provides theory and practical examples of how evidence-based adaptive teaching strategies can be used to support learners with SEND to overcome barriers to learning and access the maths curriculum. The training comprises of four sessions focused on:

  • Understanding the needs of learners
  • Effective pedagogy to meet pupil needs
  • Making reasonable adjustments for pupil learning needs
  • Additional provision to meet pupil learning needs

Within each session you will find videos and accompanying resources. A contents directory is available here to help schools navigate their way through the training.

Learning Outcomes

Through completion of this course delegates will:

  • Develop the skills to explore the needs of learners in the maths classroom.
  • Increase understanding and awareness of evidence-based adaptive teaching strategies.
  • Know how to effectively implement adaptive teaching strategies to support learners to overcome their barriers to learning in maths.

In addition, subject leaders and SENCOs will have:

  • Videos and resources to deliver high quality CPD for all teaching staff including teaching assistants.
