About this course
This 2-part webinar series will fully support RE subject leaders in all aspects of their role. Part 1 will support RE subject leaders with ensuring that their curriculum is well-sequenced and meets the needs of the school’s context. Focusing on curriculum sequencing, mapping and identifying concepts that underpin and link learning across units of work; part 1 will aid RE subject leaders in planning, refining or deepening their understanding of their existing scheme of work. We will also explore and develop understanding of the enquiry cycle in RE and how this can be used to deepen children’s understanding.
Part 2 will explore how oracy and vocabulary can be developed in RE to support learning. We will consider how we might develop disciplinary RE; understanding how children learn ‘how to know’ about religions. We will focus on the tools children might use to explore concepts and knowledge in RE and how we might develop children’s personal knowledge, values and worldview. The role of the RE subject leader, creating an action plan and monitoring learning in RE will be discussed and exemplified.
As well as being a forum for discussion, sharing good practice and exploring curriculum design approaches, we will also cover key documents such as the Ofsted subject report and share relevant blogs and resources. Delegates will be able to use the content to support teachers within their own school. For delegates who are not able to attend the live webinar, a recording will be available shortly afterwards, along with the supporting materials.
