About this course

This series of six one-hour, half-termly webinars is designed to keep maths subject leaders up to date, and leading maths across their school effectively,  providing focus for their leadership role in school.

Re-written for 2025-26 to take into account current guidance and research, we will help maths subject leaders to stay on top of changes, including for example the revised Ofsted toolkit. The six webinar themes for 2025/26 will be:

  • 'I do, we do, you do': maximising the impact of effective live modelling
  • Getting to grips with the new Ofsted Toolkit as a maths subject leader
  • Scaffolding for success: developing pupils' recording and building towards independence
  • Championing maths and raising its profile across your school community
  • Working in partnership with your SENDCo to enable access and success for all pupils in maths
  • Supporting pupils to articulate mathematical thinking through developing oracy across the school

The series of six webinars across the academic year, with additional resources, is aimed at helping maths subject leaders prioritise key actions, support colleagues and confidently lead their subjects. The webinars are continually reviewed and adjusted to account for local and national contexts.

The series also acts as a professional learning and networking opportunity for maths subject leaders, including opportunities for conversations about what might have the most impact in school and how to support colleagues and how to lead effectively.

During the sessions we will help maths subject leaders to have the time to consider the following:

  • updates, guidance and publications including from the DFE and Ofsted
  • what needs to happen (and when) over the academic year
  • how is best to lead colleagues supportively
  • the right approach to develop a whole school culture towards maths
  • how to ensure that provision maximises learning

Subject leaders may well be joining us for a second or third academic year in a row on our ‘Leading Primary Maths’ webinar series, as the content constantly evolves to give the most current picture of the primary maths landscape and support leaders. We welcome all those returning for another year as well as newcomers to our friendly and supportive maths subject leader community!
