About this course

We are pleased to launch a new contents directory for our universal+ training. Having listened to feedback, this resource will enable schools to explore specific content of each session within the training including suitable audience and length of each video. This training has been produced by advisers from the SEND, maths and English HFL teams in partnership with members of HCC.

The training will support schools who have recognised that they have some pupils that have challenges accessing and learning the curriculum. It is designed to support cognition and learning in the classroom through developing quality first teaching. At universal level the training is linked to the recommended ‘five a day’ approach from the EEF. At universal+ level this is built upon thinking about adjustments that could be made to further support pupil’s learning needs.

The training is self-guided and includes support for both English and mathematics teaching and learning.

Learning outcomes

On completion of the course, delegates will:

-       Have an increased understanding of the needs of the pupils in their class

-       Strengthen pedagogy to meet pupil learning needs

-       Be able to make reasonable adjustments for pupils with additional learning needs

Increase knowledge of additional provision to meet pupil learning needs
