About this course

This course is aimed at delegates new to schools/settings, new to Hertfordshire or new to finance. This two-session course (delivered over two different days) will provide you with the key information that you need to effectively understand and oversee the finances in your school/setting. 

Session one will focus on:

  • bank account(s)/schedule of financial delegation
  • funding
  • purchases
  • salary costs
  • financial transactions including Consistent Financial Reporting

Session two will focus on:

  • key principles of budgeting
  • changes in schools/settings that will impact the finances
  • purpose of budget monitoring and medium-term financial planning
  • financial calendar for a Hertfordshire maintained school
