Budget preparation workshop 2026/2027: digital

About the course

The workshop will form two parts:  

Morning will include:  

• providing schools with an update on any changes to Access Budgeting software 
• walk through ‘budget planning’ process in Access Budgeting software  
• looking at key areas to be aware of when setting the budget for 2026/2027 and the forecast for 2027/2028 and 2028/2029 
• overview of latest budget updates from HCC  

Afternoon: Financial Services staff will be on hand, digitally, throughout the afternoon to support with any queries and to advise on the input of your budget plans to Access Budgeting software

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the workshop delegates will be able to:  

• begin setting the draft budget in a supported environment 
• produce a comprehensive set of budget reports 
• look at ‘What if’ scenarios

Additional Information

This is not a new user’s course, and delegates must be proficient in the use of Access Budgeting software Delegates should bring: 

• funding information for 2026/2027 e.g., school resources statement, early year’s funding statement etc. 
• staffing details from the nominal roll
• contract information 
• details of school development plan for 2026/2027
