About this course:
How do we effectively assess pupil’s learning in primary geography?
This course aims to bring both curriculum design and assessment of learning together with a focus on assessing primary geography.
The course begins by considering the whole geography curriculum – how its purpose and the identified milestones guide us in what to assess in geography. We will also explore how we might identify the core, important learning in each unit of work to guide us in selecting what we might want to assess.
We will explore key principles of formative assessment for primary geography including thinking about methods of assessment for those with barriers to learning. We will also discuss the role of summative assessment in geography and explore practical ideas for project outcomes.
We will share examples of where this has been successful, so that schools can consider how this might look within their own setting.
This course is ideal for subject leaders and senior/curriculum leaders.
