About this Package
This package gives access to 3 online webinars providing a comprehensive course devised to provide Teaching Assistants (TA) with knowledge, skills, and strategies to be effective in supporting teaching and learning. Practitioners will gain an understanding of the statutory requirements of EYFS and learn how to support children in EYFS to achieve their potential through positive relationships, enabling environments and high-quality interactions. The training will focus how to work collaboratively with the teaching team, external professionals and the wider community. The training will support colleagues to reflect on their role during adult led and child-initiated learning including formative assessment and gain an insight into dynamically adapting the offer to meet the needs of underserved learners. Strategies, practical advice and guidance on supporting multi-lingual learners and children vulnerable to underachievement will be shared.
Learning Outcomes
- Develop an understanding of the EYFS Statutory Framework the seven areas of learning and explore how children’s learning progresses across developmental stages.
- Apply effective strategies to foster positive relationships with children, promoting emotional well-being and creating a nurturing, inclusive learning environment.
- Gain practical skills to support children who are learning English as an additional language, those from diverse cultural backgrounds and vulnerable groups, ensuring equitable access to learning.
- To be confident and prepared to support learning in the EYFS classroom
- Understand the diverse roles of a Teaching Assistant in EYFS and how to adapt support for different group sizes and learning needs.
- Apply scaffolding strategies to promote continuous learning, particularly for underserved or vulnerable learners.
- Support the development of executive functioning skills in young children through structured routines and responsive interactions.
- Understand elements of Rosenshein’s principles and partner talk to foster deeper thinking and collaborative learning.
- Recognise the impact of high-quality interactions and nurturing relationships on early learning
- To understand the links between early brain development, emotions, focus attention, and response to routines and transitions
- Share strategies to maintain high expectations, support vocabulary development, challenge, and engagement across the provision
- Understand the role of the Teaching Assistant contributing to effective assessment practices through observation and dialogue to support an effective transition to Year 1
