Small Schools' Programme: Series 1

This programme of 6 sessions is designed to meet the ever-evolving needs of small school leaders. Including case-studies shared by those at the chalk-face. Written to inform and support, but with a clear focus on small schools making the right decisions for their setting.

This programme of recorded content and materials, (from live sessions that took place during 2024), will provide leaders with the opportunity to listen to a range of speakers from across a number of specialisms, with a different area in each instalment.

Each session will include an introductory ‘floodlight’ on the main areas for leaders to consider, followed by a ‘searchlight’ which focus on the specific requirements of smaller schools, and then ‘limelight’ case studies, delivered by colleagues working in and with small schools.

Focus areas within this programme are:

  • Session 1 - Leading the curriculum in a small school
  • Session 2 - Delivering the curriculum: pedagogy when teaching mixed ages
  • Session 3 - Ambitious, inspirational and strategic governance in small schools
  • Session 4 - Designing leadership models for long term exceptional outcomes
  • Session 5 - Disadvantaged pupils: a small school’s perspective
