About this course
In the context of an aspiring and/or deputy and assistant headteacher’s leadership and management role, this session aims to increase understanding about effective communication and strategic school improvement planning.
We will cover:
- developing our understanding of effective communication relating to the role of deputy and assistant headteachers
- ensuring effective communication in different contexts
- leading meetings; how to chair meetings effectively and achieve positive outcomes
- speaking in public; engaging your audience and getting your message across with confidence
- dealing with confrontation constructively; how to make an appropriate response in situations where there is anger or aggression
- developing our understanding of the school improvement cycle
- developing our understanding of the components of a school improvement plan
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course participants will have:
- developed their knowledge and skills in leading meetings effectively
- effective communication in a range of contexts
- an awareness of specific techniques to improve communication effectiveness
- an increased understanding of communication cycle and the key principle of effective communication
- developed their knowledge of how to plan strategically for school improvement
